Country is in Celebration Mode after historic victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After 20-20 in 2024 and Now in ODI Format, Team India proved they are real champions.
But, Was it easy? Especially when there were doubts on leadership of Rohit Sharma in spite of his excellent previous record. In T20, he’s won 50 out of 62 matches as captain (with a win percentage over 80%), and in ODIs, he’s secured 41 wins in 55 games (around 75%). Even in Tests, he’s won 12 of 24 matches (50%).
India’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on March 9, 2025, has indeed put to rest a lot of noise surrounding captain Rohit Sharma and the team. Led by Rohit, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling final in Dubai, chasing down 252 runs with a standout performance from the skipper himself, who scored 76 runs off 83 balls and earned the Player of the Match award. This win marked India’s third Champions Trophy title, making them the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
Despite the triumph, there were voices of doubt leading up to the victory. An individual referred to as "IIT Baba" reportedly predicted that India wouldn’t win, while Congress leader Shama Mohamed had previously stirred controversy by calling Rohit "fat" and questioning his fitness. These comments, alongside external pressures and speculation about Rohit’s form and future in ODIs, could have been distractions. Yet, Rohit and the team stayed focused. Post-match, Rohit addressed the retirement rumors head-on, saying, “I’m not going to retire from this format, just to make sure no more rumors are going to get spread,” showing his intent to keep leading from the front.
The team’s performance spoke louder than the critics. Rohit’s aggressive 76, combined with key contributions from Shreyas Iyer (48), KL Rahul (34*), and others, showcased their resilience and unity. Even Shama Mohamed, who had earlier criticized Rohit, praised his leadership and knock after the win, posting on X, “Hats off to captain Rohit Sharma who led from the front with a brilliant 76, setting the tone for victory.” This shift highlights how the team’s success silenced detractors.
In short, Rohit and Team India proved that their focus on the matches, not the opinions of naysayers like "IIT Baba" or political critics, was what mattered.
Rohit lost all tosses, there was no Bumrah to Bowl, Still Won all Matches.
So, it is all about mindset and focus. A Lesson for all new players who get distracted and lose interest in the game if encounter criticism and outside voice - You are not able and You can't do. Always have self-positive talk and focus on your inner voice that whisper in your heart - You Can do. Be it is cricket or any Game. Thanks.
